when it rains, it pours!!

so with the winter season, supposedly close to an end, we find ourselves in between a few storms. it rained soooo hard last night that it even woke me up out of my sleep. and that's a pretty hard thing to do especially as DEEP as i sleep! in any case, with all this rain, the kids have been "trapped" indoors. they had their usual "rainy day recess" games, but it's just not the same as letting kids run around outdoors, breathe in the fresh air, and well...let's be honest...go crazy without driving YOU crazy!!

unfortunately, with all this rain, the kids haven't had a chance to play at the park in our community or even ride around on their scooters or bikes. so the hubs and i, knowing the bay is full of rainy winters, decided to plan ahead and bought a TON of games. after endless games of operation, memory, yahtzee, candyland, hannah montana mall madness (thanks apriljoy!), card games, wii, ps3, etc. - these kids OFFICIALLY have CABIN FEVER!!!

i find myself chanting...BE CAREFUL...or GET OFF THE FURNITURE a bit more frequently than i do during the summer. no matter how many times, or different ways you tell the kids to stay off the furniture, or to not play too rough...it never fails. you hear loud laughter and hysteria, and then a big THUD and then..."waaaaaaaaah...MOMMMMMYYYYYY!!!" depending on who was yelling for mommy, you could hear the other one either going, "OH MY, ARE YOU OKAY???" or (my favorite) "im sorry, im sorry, im sorrry!!!" instantly, you want to say, "what did you do" but i usually hold back because it's been interesting to hear the two kiddies tell the story.

so for you parentals that are new to the neighborhood, here are a few things to remember when it's raining outside and you have kiddies looking to get into trouble:

Things to keep around the house:
- cardboard boxes (different sizes, the bigger the BETTER!)
- jumprope (many times incorporated with the item above)
- soft nerf balls
- handkerchiefs (interesting to watch the kids come up with things to do w/ the handkerchiefs/bandana)
- old socks, old buttons - great for puppets
- A GOOD BOTTLE OF WINE (and that's for the mommies and daddies now)
